Circulation and Spaces
My precedents are sport centers of different flavors, but all have a circulation that doesn't always lead through spaces, but rather to them. As a result, circulation, by its nature and necessity is predominately linear for individuals visiting the space of their choice, and laid out as a network in general. Paths are thicker where traffic is heavier.
Good analysis. The programmatic elements are very clear and the the circulation paths are cogent. I especially like the hand sketch quality of the diagrams. the looseness leaves some room for interpretation. Your choice of photos are rather evocative without getting wrapped up in the formal aspects.
ReplyDeleteIf to push a bit, take the circulation diagrams, separate them from the plan and analyze the "networks" some more. Really investigate the relationships and adjacencies of the travel corridors, in terms of heirarchy, directionality, and flow.
Vlad,
ReplyDeleteThese are pretty good. Although I would suggest you look into clearances for circulation. This is very important given the type of building you have selected. These can be found here:

Incidentally, you can also take a look at graphic standards and look for more specific building types. I think we have a copy in the Architecture office.
